Setting Goals For An Internet Business

Setting up an online business and being able to make money online will usually not be much of a problem for most people. The struggle begins when you start getting bored of your online business or think you are done and quit working which over time will make you lose position and quite a bit of online income. If you would like to be one of the few that last for years then I highly recommend you become acquainted with internet business goal setting. This will help you have something to work for meaning you will spend more time online working and therefore earn more money for a greater period of time. In some cases the money will be enough of a motivator, but for some of us we need actual lines in the sand which we can cross and know we have reached our goals. It is important when setting goals for your internet business to not go overboard and set them way to high. You also do not want to set goals which can be accomplished quickly because you will run out of ideas.

Finding the middle is key when setting goals so figure out what is best for you and your internet business. Some can set goals up to a year ahead and keep them in mind while working helping productivity and income generation. Others such as myself need goals that do not go past a few months or we lose sight. Personally I like setting a goal every three months or so of where I would like a certain website. One example of a goal which I have now is for my website get paid to take surveys. I would like it in the top twenty for all major “survey” keywords. The only reason I set goals which are so ambitious is I have been working online for years now and know how to reach the top of Google for keywords. If you are somewhat new to the online business world a better goal may be to reach the top 100 for a certain keyword. For the newer people I also recommend placing an emphasis on learning about SEO and internet marketing when setting goals.

One difficult part of goal setting is knowing when you have reached the goal. There are many websites out across the web which will assist you in tracking progress of an online business. For those who prefer to set goals in terms of money they can visit the websites which they market or their account where they accept payment after purchase. If your goals are more traffic oriented then you may want to use stat counter or Google anaylitics which will help you track all aspects of traffic. For people like me who prefer to set goals in terms of search position the tools that will be helpful include Google webmaster tools and google adwords keyword tool. These two will help you find what keywords are best and the amount of traffic that any specific keyword has monthly.

Reaching Online Business Potential

One of the most difficult parts of making money online is reaching the full potential of your online business. This means making the most money possible with what you have. The potential will usually depend on what type of presence you are running. One of the best types of presences is a blog. You can start a free blog over at blogger.com or wordpress.com. The reason a blog has huge potential is each post you can rank at the top of Google for the title. This can also be done with a static presence as long as you optimize each page. The majority of online businesses usually rank their website for the main terms and a couple related terms. What they don’t realize is the potential their sub pages have. Ranking all a websites sub pages will usually lead to double the traffic compared to only ranking the home page for main keywords.

To really cut down on the workload you need to optimize all the pages of your site from the beginning. The best way to do this is knowing which keywords are best to rank your sub pages for. I personally use Google adwords keyword tool to find the amount of traffic for any given keyword. Use this tool to see which keywords are worth ranking your sub pages for. One thing to keep in mind when ranking your sub pages is the amount of competition. Do not go after major terms for your sub pages. Rank your main page or home page for the high competition keywords. Google and the other major search engines will give more authority to you main page making it easier to rank well for tough keywords. In the beginning of your online business this should be your main focus. Don’t worry about all the sub pages and their ranks. Ranking for main keywords and terms is extremely difficult to do so you should start learning everything you can about the basics of search engine optimization.

Search engine optimization is everything you do to rank your presence well in the major search engines. It can be broken down into two categories the first is onsite optimization. This is when you place select keywords on your site, in the URL, in the navigation, and within the content. Doing this will let Google and the other search engines know your site is about. If you are not ranking well for a keyword look over the page you are trying to rank and make sure that the keyword is prevalent throughout the content and in the main places such as headings, titles, and within the first few sentences of the content. Next you will want to go off site and begin building links with the keywords between the anchor tags. You can do this by using article directories, free web directories, and forums.

An Internet Business Idea

If you are interested in learning how to make money online all you need to begin is an idea. Finding something to put in your head which will drive you will put you above the majority out there. Many think about running an internet business, but really have no starting point or foundation. This article will hopefully give you an idea which you will find something to work from. The first thing you will need is a host. For those brand new to the online business world it is highly recommended that you use free hosting. This will allow you to give up and not be in your business hundreds of dollars. Remember that internet business is not for everyone so experiment with free resources to find out if your up for the challenge. You can always move onto paid resources if you are able to make money from the free resources. Some of the easy and free hosting resources includes 000webhost.com, blogger.com, wordpress.com, squidoo.com, and hubpages.com. All of these will allow you to create a free web presence which you will be able to earn money from if marketed properly.

The next step after setting up a presence is building free web traffic. You will need hundreds of visitors each day before you begin seeing decent profit. The only way to get this is either working hard on ranking your website in Google and the other major search engines or paying hundreds for traffic each month. When deciding remember if you begin building links and ranking well in Google the traffic will continue to flow without much work. It is extremely difficult to rank in Google, but once you do maintaining a position is a hundred times easier compared to getting to the top. There are many free marketing resources out there that will drive traffic and help with serps position. Two of the most basic and useful include free web directories and article directories. For a list of a few thousand free web directories go to directorycritic.com. Article marketing is about quality rather than quantity. Stick with the top article directories such as goarticles.com, articlesbase.com, ezinearticles.com, and buzzle.com.

Now you have your website up and have a marketing strategy in place it is time to start working on monetization. Getting traffic to your web presence is difficult, but if you dont monetize then you will not make money when the traffic arrives. The two most common ways of making money from traffic includes ppc publishing and affiliate marketing. For ppc publishing go to Google Adsense and sign up for an account, create an ad, and publish the ad on your web presence. Affiliate marketing is a little more intense, but also has a higher potential pay off. For affiliate marketing the two best websites include amazon.com and clickbank.com. These two have thousands upon thousands of products so there will be something you can sale no matter what niche you chose.

Creating A Successful Online Business

Many people think that anyone can %link1% that is until they actually try running an online business and find it is one of the most complicated competitive ways to make money. If you are serious about wanting to start an online business then one of the most important things to consider is if your primary goal is making money then you will more than likely fail. People who start a business online for the money will quickly find out the length of time and amount of work far outweigh the miniscule earnings they will receive within the first year. I remember my first year it was one of the saddest money making times in my life. I was earning around fifty cents an hour if that. The nice thing about online business is the stacking effect. This means the links and work you do now will pay off forever. The first year is when you play catch up with the rest of the world. Once you pass your competition then the work will dramatically decrease and earnings will dramatically increase. This is the time where you can take 6 months off come back and see your online business is still making money.

The first couple things you need include an idea and a platform to build the idea transforming it into an actual money making business. Personally I believe that everyone needs an affiliate website and the highest paying are %link2%. These are fantastic to start with especially with a down economy. People are looking to make money and the more people you send to these survey websites the more money you make. Another reason this is a great way to earn money in a down economy is the amount of businesses looking for people to tell them what they need to do also increases. This means when the economy is low the survey websites do quite well because they help people make money and businesses create better products. Really though you can create any type of business that you like I just wanted to share my thoughts and give reasons why I created a survey affiliate business. To create any type of business you will need to find hosting. If this is your first online business I highly recommend using the free hosting companies out there such as blogger.com, wordpress.com, 000webhost.com, and squidoo.com. These have great benefits the most important of course being they are absolutely free.

Next it is a good idea to start focusing on building %link3%. This will help turn your idea into profit. Any online businesses success will depend on the amount of traffic they are getting to their website. The most important rule of any internet marketing campaign is only marketing a web presence that is worth marketing. If you are marketing a terrible website it really does not matter how much time you spend promoting the website will never sky rocket to the top of your niche. On the other hand if you spend your time promoting a website which has quality content and really fills a void within your niche then when people start landing on the site they will be likely to share it on social networks and webmasters will be likely to place a link on their website or blog. Flat out this is the basic 1,2,3s of starting an online business. There are some factors which were not covered, but if you stick with this basic platform then you will have a good chance of success.

Create an Online Business

The main thing people expect out of me is learning about online business. Years ago i began with something really quite simple and worked my way to the top of search engines for many keywords. This platform will be different, but I don't want to leave the people expecting online business with nothing. Like i said in the first post this blog will contain all of my writings not limited to one specific niche or aspect of my life.

To start an online business all you need is an idea, time, and a platform. There are many free places to get a platform, but before deciding on one you should do some research. Many of the websites offering free web space will have conditions and there will also be some that will ban your website if you pass a certain amount of traffic. Make sure you read all of the rules. Some of the better web hosts that I have come across include 000webhost.com, blogger.com, and wordpress.com. There are many more, but these are some of the main ones.

Many free web presences do not allow you to make money so will not work if you are wanting to build a business online. The free web presences that are listed above all allow you to create an income so should be considered when trying to start a business. Once you have a platform to build your online business it is time to start thinking of what your presence will be about. I do not recommend creating an open ended web presence, but rather something specific especially if you do not have any experience online. When choosing a niche which is the topic of your presence there are a couple things to consider. The first and more important thing to consider is how much you know about the given topic. Before you can be considered and expert you must know everything there is to know about the given topic. The second thing to consider is how popular the topic is. Creating a presence in a dead niche will mean very little traffic and therefore very little money.

The final aspect of online business which will be necessary is building free web traffic to your website. This should not be the primary reason for building your online business. The most successful online business professionals created a presence where they were allowed to express themselves on a topic they truly enjoyed. As visitors came to the website and read they quickly saw how much the owner enjoyed writing on the topic and had expertise. They wrote and wrote not seeing much in the first year, but the pure joy of sharing knowledge with their audience. They wrote everyday no matter how much traffic the post would bring and in the long run it is this that will separate the successful from the failures.
